WOW its been a long time

Hey everyone! Its been a long time since I posted. Not much really going on here. Just waiting for the bad storms that are headed this way.

Yesterday was miserable at work. One of the preschool teachers has had to take a six week medical leave and they pulled me out of my room to feel in for her. The only problem is the other teacher has NO control over the kids at all and she "hates having to be mean". WTF You've got to make the kids behave. So I was agravated over that and then during nap, I went to do the DAILY books, and they hadn't been done since the first week of September!!!! I spent two hours updating 2 1/2 books. You should be able to do it in like 20 min. if they had been kept up with. The other teacher didn't even know where her books were at, so evidently she hasn't updated at all this school term. If state was to come in, this could so cost us our license. I told a couple co-workers yesterday that before this six weeks was up they were going to have to lock me in the lunny-bin.

The day from HELL!!!!

Today was my first day back at work since surgery and it was HELL!!! Little to my knowing, my boss took head teacher away from the lady that has it for 4 years and gave it to me, so everyone is pissed at me because they think I asked for it. HELL no I didn't ask for it, now I'm even more buried in freaking paper work than I already was!!!

Then, we have annual review meetings coming up starting this week, so I am having to get new IEP's, goals, and letters done up. So I go to print out notices of conference and my blasted computer decides not to recognize my printer, so I have to leave my room and go to the other building and do my notices. By the time I get done with that, I go back to the main building to get them ready to go home and find out we've got some goals and objectives from this year MISSING!!! So before these two conferences on THURSDAY I have to redo and totally update these two sets of goals and objectives!!! Needless to say I'm pissed that someone pulled these and failed to but them back!!!

So my first day back was not the best in the world...the week can only get better right? Nope, we have to take our class of 20 and the 4 year old preschool to Little Rock Friday to watch The Incredibles On Ice. Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

Just a picture of this sweet child

I wanted to share a picture of Kaylen. If you didn't know the characteristics of DS you would never know that there was anything wrong with her.

On my soap box

I am so pissed at some ignorant people in the pageant community right now. KayLyn's modeling coach has a niece that has Down's Syndrome and she is a very beautiful child and she competes in pageants all the time and does wonderful. Well, a couple weekends ago, she competed in her first ever State Pageant and won several overall titles as well as 0-3 Beauty Supreme. Well, of course her mom and aunt had a congrats banner made for her and posted on the congrats board. Well, today some idiot decided to bash this innocent child. I've included everything the person said below.

"I HAVE A REAL PROBLEM WITH THIS! WHY WOULD YOU PUT A CHILD IN A BEAUTY PAGEANT THAT HAS DOWN'S SYNDROME? THIS CHILD OBVIOUSLY DOES. THIS IS CRUEL, MOM ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SYMPATHY TITLES, THIS IS THE WORSE THING I HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE! SHAME ON YOU FOR PUTTING YOUR CHILD THROUGH THIS. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED AND DHS NEEDS TO BE NOTIFIED. THIS IS THE WORSE KIND OF ABUSE! YOU ARE SO CRUEL MOM. THINK ABOUT IT?"

"Pageants are not a place for retarded children, i am sorry but that is the cold truth. And she likes it, how would you know,, b/c she probably doesn't have the ablility to decide b/c of her disablity. You are a sick a demented person to put your child through this. I guess you want people to laugh at you and make fun of your child. That would be the cruel part. You have the major problems lady. No one bashing your child, just making the statement that a DS kid doesn't belong in pageants, THAT IS PURELY SICK! And lady didn't she win b/c of default, no one was there to give her competition, their are plenty of online sites that sell crowns and banners , just go buy you one, stop embrassing your child and yourself. You are disguisting."

Well, needless to say, the pageant community in Arkansas has come unglued on the person that has posted the above messages. It is people like this that give pageants a bad name. I mean I'm looking at this in two aspects: 1 as a pageant mom and 2 as a mom of a child with a disabilty.

Kaylen (Talice's neice) is awesome on stage, she is a little personality power house, and when she is dressed up and has her hair and make up done, you can barely even tell she has DS. And the comment about them not knowing if she wanted to do it or not is so untrue, if Kaylen didn't want to do it, an army couldn't drag her on stage, she is that strong willed. The only good thing I guess I can say about this is the outpour of support that they have gotten from other people in the pageant community and I really feel sorry for whoever is doing the bashing, because WHEN someone finds out who is doing it, the person that has said all of it will be so out of place and left out at pageants, because no will won't anything to do with them because of their attitudes toward children. I mean if that's how they feel, can you imagine what they are teaching their child or children about people with differences or disabilities?

I'm still alive!!!

Hey everyone!! Yes, I'm still alive, this surgery just had me down for a while. After the surgery, I had a reaction to something they used in surgery, so I've been down for another two weeks for that. I'm finally back up on my feet and will be going back to work right after Easter. Boy am I glad too, I've got so much work to catch up on once I get back, I don't think I'll ever see the light of day for a while due to annual review conferences which start the week I go back. Other than my recovery, not much going on here. I hope everyone is doing okay. Have a great night!!

:) Hey all!!

I hope everyone has had a good day. I'm still healing from the surgery, but now I have developed some kind of reaction to something and have developed an itchy rash and staying pretty loaded on Benadryl. I go tomorrow to get this first bandage off my leg and get the stiches out and hopefully she will let me start walking a little. Other than that, there's not a lot going on here.

It all went well

Well, I made it through surgery. I went in at 7:15 and they repaired the tendon and found a compressed nerve. They fixed the nerve also. I was home by 1:30 yesterday afternoon. I'm not really in that much pain, it feels kinda funny because they've got it wrapped so much it looks like I have no foot. I'm confined to my wheel chair until the 21st, thats when I go back and get the stitches out. Hopefully I'll get to start walking some then.

Tomorrow's the day

Well, tomorrow is my surgery day. I should be home by around 5 if not before, because my surgery is at 7:15 and its only going to take an hour. They're not going to sleep me, they're going to do a block behind my knee kinda like an epideral (sp), so I should only be in recovery like an hour or so. I'll update as soon as I can tomorrow or Tuesday.

Here's a little something I wanted to share:
ASAP
******
There's work to do, deadlines to meet,
You've got no time to spare,
But as you hurry and scurry --
ASAP: Always Say A Prayer

In the midst of family chaos,
"Quality time" is rare,
Do your best, let God do the rest --
ASAP: Always Say A Prayer

It may seem like your worries
Are more than you can bear.
Slow down and take a breather --
ASAP: Always Say A Prayer

God knows how stressful life is;
He wants to ease your cares.
And He'll respond ASAP
If we
Always Say A Prayer

Come to me,
all you weary and heavy laden,
and I'll give you rest
